Facebook funds TUM to set up institute for Ethics in AI
Facebook has joined hands with the Technical University of Munich (TUM) to create an independent ethics research center for artificial intelligence. Facebook funds TUM to set up institute for Ethics in AI by an initial grant of $7.5 million. The funding will be given to the university over a five-year period.
TUM is one of the world’s top-ranked universities in the field of Artificial Intelligence. It will explore areas such as health, policy-making, business and the web economy, and will address transparency, accountability, human rights and other issues in the context of human-AI interactions.
TUM professor Christoph Luetge, specializing in business ethics, will lead the new Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence.
